TTT: New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2022

Top Ten Tuesday is currently hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2022.

StoryGraph tells me I discovered 134 new-to-me authors last year! It was hard to limit my choices for this list, but here are 10 authors who stuck out to me and the books I read by them last year:

  1. Emma Hardy (Teeny Tiny Gardening; Small Summer Gardens; Tiny Tabletop Gardens; The Winter Garden)
  2. Emily Henry (Beach Read; People We Meet on Vacation; Book Lovers)
  3. Tamsyn Muir (Gideon the Ninth; Harrow the Ninth; Nona the Ninth)
  4. Becky Chambers (The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet; A Closed and Common Orbit)
  5. Bonnie Garmus (Lessons in Chemistry)
  6. Katja Swift & Ryn Midura (Herbal Medicine for Beginners)
  7. Fire Lyte (The Dabbler’s Guide to Witchcraft)
  8. Everina Maxwell (Winter’s Orbit)
  9. Kirsten Miller (The Change)
  10. Robin Wall Kimmerer (Braiding Sweetgrass)

  1. I loved Winter’s Orbit and I’m so excited to read the next one by that author – I read it in 2021 or it definitely would have been on this list. I also agree with you about Bonnie Garmus, Becky Chambers and Emily Henry, we clearly have reading tastes in common. Braiding Sweetgrass is one I keep hearing I need to read.

    1. Yes, I need to get to the latest Everina Maxwell book too. I adored her characters in Winter’s Orbit. I just checked out The Galaxy, and the Ground Within from my library – I saw your recent review of it and am very excited to read it! Braiding Sweetgrass is a stunningly beautiful book. I hope you like it if you read it.
